Labor Points Summarized

Allot has been written since last Friday's job report concerning the state of both the US economy and employment situation.  I am going to sum this up in two articles from the WSJ The Vanishing Workers and Spring Is Losing Season for Jobs.

Bottom line as John Mauldin has also pointed out in [Where Will The Jobs Come From?] and I agree with him is that plain and simple we are not creating enough jobs in the US to sustain an economic recovery.  At this point in a recovery we would have expected to have seen massive job growth not including the massive stimulus plan that was put through in order to aid in the recovery process.

All of that money spent has done very little to spurn job growth.  At best it has maybe softened the blow but has not delivered what was promised.  Let alone the massive financial burden we have placed in future generations.

As the chart below details the labor participation rate is back to the early 80's level meaning that more people are just dropping out of the job market all together.
