Are You As Busy As You Think?

Good piece here from the WSJ by Laura Vanderkam author of 168 Hours.  The article gives some good suggestions as to how to "own up" to the time we spend and where we spend it at.  We all know that time is a valuable commodity which can never be replenished so it must be used wisely.

Via the WSJ piece here, Vanderkam offers three ways to go about tackling your busyness

  1. Keep a time log - For anyone who has tried this it is definitely easier said than done.  However it does have merits and can point you in a direction as where you are actually spending time vs. where you think you are spending time.
  2. Be Honest - Saying that you are busy is a cop out declares Vanderkam.  It's an easy excuse to fall into and potentially a hard bad habit to break.  If something is important enough you will find the time.
  3. Change you Language - Following up with that last point you may have the time but choose other priorities.  It's key to really know the difference between the two
