Introduction to Christine Lagarde Head of IMF

This was an in depth interview on 60 Minutes with Christine Lagarde, the new chief of the IMF.  Ms. Lagarde was previously the minister of Economic Affairs in France.  A lawyer by trade, Lagarde is the first female ever to lead the IMF or the finance function of a G-8 country.

Ms. Lagarde from my view gives the sense of being a straight shooter.  She has been quoted as saying "we must, very decisively, cut our deficit and reduce our debt."  However Lagarde has described herself as "with Adam Smith—that is, liberal."

It will be interesting to see how well she works with Geitner and company here in the US when it comes to developing policies and solutions to the current European financial meltdown.
